Improved Interaction Among Ocean Industry Sectors

Facilitate interaction among sectors to increase synergies and reduce ocean use conflicts.

The WOC will facilitate the exchange of information and building of relationships among ocean related industries. This will create opportunities for dialogue and developing mutual understanding on specific ocean use conflicts among industries and working on protocols and best practices for avoiding and resolving user conflicts. One aspect of this will be the WOC "Sustainable Ocean Summit", a cross-sectoral conference and workshop on marine environmental issues, one function of which will be to identify priorities, needs and opportunities for the WOC to consider in developing its work programs.

Result: Better understanding among industries of each others' ocean use requirements, as measured by reduced conflicts in use of the marine environment and improved ocean industry collaboration and synergies; A cross-sectoral industry "Sustainable Ocean Summit" that establishes forum for ocean industries on marine environmental issues and provides an opportunity for the ocean business community to identify priorities and provide input to the WOC work programs.
