Collaboration on Ocean Issues in Priority RegionsDevelop cross-sectoral industry collaboration in marine areas of significant multi-sector commercial use and/or areas of high conservation value.
The WOC will catalyze collaboration among industry in marine areas of major commercial use by a wide range of industries (e.g. Mediterranean, Caribbean), areas of high conservation value (e.g. the Arctic, SE Asia's "Coral Triangle") and areas where the marine spatial management is advancing rapidly (e.g. North Sea, California, Northeast Atlantic). The WOC will assist the ocean business community to better engage with other stakeholders in addressing ocean sustainability issues and management approaches in these areas, especially in relation to the area-based management efforts (e.g. marine protected area networks, ocean zoning).
Result: Cross-sectoral industry networks are engaging other stakeholders in addressing on ocean sustainability issues at a regional, national or local level, as measured by the number of industry networks developed in high priority areas and actively involved in ocean issues. The ocean business community is actively and constructively involved in marine spatial management efforts in priority areas, as measured by the participation of business and industry in developing and implementing spatial management plans.
