Proactive Ocean Industry Involvement in Ocean Policy Developments

Create the "eyes, ears, and voice" of responsible ocean industry in ocean policy developments.

The WOC will monitor, analyze and report on major ocean policy and decision-making processes and developments in order to catalyze industry involvement, especially in international processes that are not sector specific, e.g. Law of the Sea; Convention on Biological Diversity. The WOC will work with industry leaders to develop the "voice" of the responsible ocean business community by creating a platform for positive industry information and input. The WOC will coordinate proactive involvement in specific processes that are a priority for the ocean business community.

Result: Active monitoring and analysis of major policy developments, as measured by the improved, early industry awareness of critical developments and emerging issues; Rapid and effective industry input to critical policy processes, as measured by the early, targeted credible information and science input to create balanced and informed dialogue; Constructive industry participation in priority ocean sustainability policy developments, as measured by policy results that are practical for responsible businesses to work with.
