SOS 2010 Overview - Post conference

Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in the Sustainable Ocean Summit (SOS) - the first international, cross-sectoral ocean sustainability conference for the private sector.

Why the Sustainable Ocean Summit?

With the theme of "Reducing Risk, Increasing Sustainability: Solutions through Collaboration", the Sustainable Ocean Summit (SOS) brought together the wide range of industries that use marine space and resources, including shipping, oil and gas, fisheries, aquaculture, ports, mining, insurance, legal issues, renewable offshore energy, tourism, dredging, marine technology and others.

The Sustainable Ocean Summit was an unprecedented gathering of the ocean business community to catalyze the growing interest among ocean businesses for more effective leadership and collaboration in addressing shared ocean environmental challenges and develop the practical programs to develop and implement solutions. For more information on the conference goals and expected outcomes, click here.

Who organized the Sustainable Ocean Summit?

The Sustainable Ocean Summit was organized by the World Ocean Council, in partnership with Golder Associates.

The World Ocean Council (WOC) is the only international business leadership alliance on ocean stewardship. Sustainability leaders from the range of ocean industry companies and association worldwide are distinguishing themselves by becoming WOC Founding Members in 2009/2010.

Golder Associates, an international environment and engineering firm with considerable marine expertise, sees the vision and value of the WOC and encourages other companies to get involved in this new ocean industry leadership alliance.
