Rainer Sternfeld is the treasurer of the WOC’s Board of Directors and has been a member of the Board since 2013. He is the founder and CEO of Planet OS (formerly Marinexplore) – the ocean’s largest data platform for organizing, analyzing and distributing ocean data. Planet OS allows businesses to streamline ocean data flows and improve decision making.
Prior to Planet OS Mr. Sternfeld led ABB’s business development and reorganization initiative in the Baltic region. He was ABB’s key solutions architect for the world’s first fast-charging nation-wide electric car network. Mr. Sternfeld co-designed the Statue of Liberty of Estonia, Flydog’s profiling X-Buoy, and served on the Supervisory Board of GrabCAD. He has also successfully grown his family company which engineers unique machine parts for the renewable and automation industries.
