Paul Holthus, Founding President & CEO

Paul is founding President and Chief Executive Officer of the World Ocean Council. He works with the private sector and market forces to develop practical solutions for achieving sustainable development and addressing environmental concerns, especially for marine areas and resources.

His experience ranges from working with the global industry associations or directors of UN agencies to working with fishers in small island villages. Christine Valentin, Chief Operating Officer

Christine is Board Member & Chief Operating Officer of the World Ocean Council. As such she is leading the WOC efforts to develop and drive strategically focused action to ensure sustainable growth and visibility to the members of the ocean business community who believe in “Corporate Ocean Responsibility”, bring sustainable business value to members, grow the WOC membership and visibility among ocean business community, and guide WOC budget development and financial management.


Jane Chu, Communications Officer

Jane develops and delivers the World Ocean Council’s global communications strategy. She oversees the implementation of all internal and external communications, including WOC’s online visibility (website and social media platforms) and stakeholder outreach. She is involved in coordinating the annual Sustainable Ocean Summit.


Virginie Tassin Campanella, Ocean Policy and Governance Expert Advisor

Virginie is Ocean Policy and Governance Expert Advisor for the World Ocean Council. She is a lawyer on the Paris Bar and Doctor in Law (Sorbonne and Melbourne). She is the Founder and Director of law firm VTA-TASSIN, which specializes in European and Public International Law, Maritime and Environmental Law and Policy, Law of the Sea, Sustainable Development and Climate Change.


Chris Allen, Liaison Officer – West Coast US and Canada

Chris is the WOC's US and Canada West Coast liaison working to advance membership, strategic alliances, and project/plaftform development in the region. He has collaborated with WOC since 2015 on a number of initiatives and has contributed as both speaker and panel coordinator for past Sustainable Ocean Summits in Singapore, Rotterdam, and Halifax. Chris has 30 years consulting experience in sustainable development specializing in helping to create innovative and strategic approaches for multi-disciplinary project teams working on complex opportunities and challenges.


Tina Liu, Liaison Officer – China

Tina, WOC Liaison Officer – China, facilitates the development of WOC in Chinese speaking regions. Her background is in shipping and in academia. She is the Vice President of Elane Inc. in charge of Big Data Product. Elane Inc. is a Chinese technology and information provider for Shipping, Supply Chain, Commodity Trading industries.


Shanti Moganti, Liaison Officer – Asia

Shanti facilitates the outreach and visibility of WOC in Asia, and works to develop WOC membership and alliances in the region. Following a brief career in academia, she realized her interests in ocean sustainability and resource management, and joined the shipping industry, overseeing environmental compliance regulations in the maritime industry for one of the world’s largest ship management companies.


Ibukun Jacob Adewumi, Liaison Officer – West Africa

Ibukun facilitates WOC’s outreach and partnership activities and the Young Ocean Professionals Initiative in West Africa, with the aim to engage young professionals and foster discourse on Blue Economy sustainability in the Sub-region.


Aymen Chrigui, Erasmus Intern

Aymen Chrigui is a current Erasmus Mundus Joint Master student in Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) at Iuav Venice Italy in collaboration with the University of Seville, Spain and University of Azores, Portugal. He is presently interning at the WOC and conducting a research study on Blue Economy industry and business in the Mediterranean Sea and the region's potential for MSP.
