Shanti facilitates the outreach and visibility of WOC in Asia, and works to develop WOC membership and alliances in the region. Following a brief career in academia, she realized her interests in ocean sustainability and resource management, and joined the shipping industry, overseeing environmental compliance regulations in the maritime industry for one of the world’s largest ship management companies.
Shanti holds a PhD degree in Environmental Sciences, with a focus on marine pollution, from the City University of Hong Kong. She graduated with a Master of Science in Plant Sciences from Nagpur University, and a Bachelor of Science in Botany, Zoology and Chemistry from Osmania University, India.
Shanti is based in Hong Kong, and is currently taking a training course in operational oceanography at the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services, INCOIS, India.
